About

Your guide to the Magellan Awards: what they are, why they matter, and how to make them yours.

About the Awards

Ferdinand Magellan was the first explorer to circumnavigate the world. He pushed beyond the known, charted new territory, and set a course that others would follow for centuries. The Magellan Awards were founded to celebrate that exact spirit, and what better industry to do that in than travel?

Since 2008, the best in travel have been honored for their most creative, innovative work in marketing, design, products, and services, with a trophy to prove it. Backed by Travel Weekly, the most trusted voice in the industry, a Magellan Award is the one to win if you are in the business of travel.

A Magellan Award isn't just a trophy. It tells the industry that your work doesn't just meet the standard. It sets it.

About the Awards

Making it Count

Here’s what winning actually means.

Industry Recognition

A Magellan Award is a credential recognized across the travel industry as a mark of excellence and outstanding achievement in creativity and innovation. Plus, the statuette is an instant conversation piece that lets the award do your bragging for you, without saying a word.

Media Exposure

Winners are featured in a November issue of Travel Weekly, with digital distribution via email and social media, reaching an audience of over 100,000 travel industry professionals. Every one of your peers will see it. Your competitors will notice. Not a bad way to get your name out there.

Team Morale

Your team worked hard to get here. Winning a Magellan Award makes it official. Tell your people that the work they put in every day is exceptional, and that it’s helping propel the industry forward. Few things motivate like a trophy with your name on it.

Competitive Edge

“Award-winning” isn’t just a nice thing to say. It’s a differentiator. A Magellan Award signals to the market that your work meets the highest standard in the business: Travel Weekly’s. Display it, share it, and put it to work in proposals, pitches, and partnerships.

"Earning recognition from the Magellan Awards is a true honor and a powerful testament to excellence in travel."
